Passage Mode

Passage Mode

Passage mode is a convenient feature that grants you the flexibility to control access to a door during specific timeframes. It proves particularly useful in various scenarios, such as when you have guests visiting at home or when clients frequently enter and exit a workplace. By setting up passage mode, you can ensure the door remains unlocked during designated periods, making it easier for authorized individuals to enter without the need for constantly unlocking and re-locking the door.

Guide on how to set up and use passage mode for TTLock powered smart locks

Info
The models that support passage mode:
SDL-H1, SDL-H2, SDL-S1, SDL-S2, SDL-SS1, SDL-T1, Loqee Slim, Loqee Key Box, SDL-R2

Enabling Passage Mode using the TTLock Application

The first step is to go to your TTLock application, turn passage mode on and set the time period according to your requirements.

1.1 From the home page options, tap ‘Settings’.

1.2 Tap ‘Passage Mode’ and tap the button in the top right hand corner of the screen to switch passage mode on.

1.3 Enter the day/s and the start time and end time that you require passage mode to be enabled. Note: if you tap ‘All hours’ this will enable passage mode for the entire day/s selected.

1.4 Tap ‘Save’.

Activating passage mode on the lock

First make sure you have enabled passage mode on the TTLock Application. The next step is to activate passage mode by first unlocking the door.

For a door to remain open during passage mode, the door must first be unlocked by a person with a current registered passcode, fingerprint, fob or e-key or by a person using the TTLock application.

For example, if passage mode is enabled from Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm and you unlock the door using your fingerprint at 9am on Monday for the first time that day, the door will be remain open from 9am until 5pm that day, unless it has been manually locked during that time period (see below).

Manually locking the door during passage mode

At any time, you can manually lock the door during passage mode. This will lock the door so that the door cannot be opened from the outside when you pull the handle down. You can do this in a couple of ways. One way of locking the door manually is to press and hold the large padlock icon on the home page of the TTLock application. Another way is to press and hold the # key on the lock.

Important: Once the door is locked manually, it will need to again be unlocked once by a person with a current registered passcode, fingerprint, fob or e-key or by a person using the TTLock application in order for passage mode to be activated once again.

Multiple passage mode setting

The free version of the TTLock app allows you to create one passage mode setting. It doesn’t allow for different passage mode times on different days. However, there is a workaround to this that doesn’t require a subscription:
  • Set the start time to the earliest time you’d like the door to be unlocked and in passage mode

  • Set the end time to the latest time you’d like the door to lock automatically

  • Ensure that auto-lock is enabled

Once the door is locked at the end of the set time period, it will remain locked unless it is unlocked electronically using a valid fingerprint, passcode, fob, or phone or by using the physical key. If you’d like the door to lock earlier on certain days, you can always do so manually by pressing and holding the # key or by pressing and holding the padlock icon in the app.

First make sure you have enabled passage mode. The next step is to activate/enter passage mode by first unlocking the door using a valid finger print, fob or code.

Manually locking the door during passage mode

At any time, you can manually lock the door during passage mode. This will lock the door so that the door cannot be opened from the outside when you pull the handle down. You can do this by entering a valid fingerprint, passcode or fob. Manually locking does not mean passage mode has been disabled. It just means that it's exited passage mode.

Info
Important:
  1. Once the door is locked manually, it will need to again be unlocked once by entering a valid passcode, fingerprint or fob in order for passage mode to be activated/entered into once again.
  2. Privacy switch doesn’t override passage mode
Use case 1:
  1. You Enabled passage mode on your office door lock for the first time.

  2. You must first unlock the door with a valid finger print, passcode, or fob for it to enter into passage mode. During the day you can go in and out without having to unlock the door.

  3. End of the day, you lock the door manually by entering a valid finger print, passcode or fob. This will exit passage mode and the door will be locked.

Next day when you come to work.. You must now unlock the door with a valid finger print, passcode or fob for it to enter passage mode once again.

Use case 2:

  1. You have passage mode Enabled on your office door lock.

  2. The battery died, so you replaced it with a spare battery.

  3. You notice passage mode is not working. Why is this? - This is the expected behavior. - The passage mode wasn't working because replacing the battery forced the door to automatically lock, exiting the passage mode. - But this doesn't mean passage mode is DISABLED. The lock has just exited passage mode. - You just have to unlock the door with a valid fingerprint, passcode or fob, for the lock to enter into passage mode again.
