Does the SDL-SS1 come with a knob handle option, and is it good for sliding doors?
Yes. The SDL-SS1 can be custom-ordered with a set of knob handles in place of the standard lever handles for an additional $20.
While it works for all door types, the knob-handle option is particularly well suited to manually operated sliding doors, as well as doors where a standard lever may interfere with an adjacent panel, flyscreen or second door. Because the knob turns in place, it requires less clearance than a lever handle.
Is the SDL-SS1 suitable for sliding doors?
Yes. The SDL-SS1 can be ordered specifically for manually operated sliding doors, including sliding aluminium and glass doors that are opened and closed by hand.

The knob handle does not change the lock itself
The knob handle is simply an alternative handle configuration. The lock remains the same SDL-SS1, featuring:
- 5-in-1 access: fingerprint, passcode, fob, app and mechanical key
- Different mortise size options available for both swing (hinged) and sliding doors
- IP55 rating
- Bluetooth connectivity
- Optional Wi-Fi Bridge for remote features
Confirming Compatibility Before Ordering
The SDL-SS1 is available with different mortise size options for both swing (hinged) and sliding doors. The correct mortise must be selected based on your door type and measurements.
Before we invoice a custom SDL-SS1 with knob handles, we'll confirm that the lock and mortise configuration are suitable for your door.
Please provide:
- Photos of the door and existing lock or handle, both inside and outside. Please take the photos far enough back to show any nearby flyscreen, fixed panel, second door or wall that may affect clearance
- Door stile — the distance from the edge of the door to the glass or moulding
- Door thickness
- Backset — the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the keyhole
- Door type — please tell us explicitly whether the door is sliding or swing (hinged)
- Clearance to any screen door or adjacent panel, particularly if limited clearance is the reason you're considering the knob handles
Once we've received the above information and confirmed compatibility, if you are happy to proceed we can arrange a custom order and provide a payment link or invoice for the SDL-SS1 with the knob-handle option.
Knob Handle Protrusion
If you're considering the knob option because your door runs close to a flyscreen, fixed panel or another door, protrusion is an important measurement to consider. Protrusion refers to how far the handle extends from the face of the door. This is different from backset, which is the distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the keyhole. The smaller protrusion of the SDL-SS1 with knob handles can provide additional clearance where space between the main door and a screen door, fixed panel or adjacent door is limited.
