The Fingerprint Recognition Only Seems to Work Occasionally
The fingerprint reader on SDL smart locks is usually very reliable. If you are able to register new fingerprint, it means you're fingerprint reader is working.
Sometimes if there is dust or residue on the sensor or if your finger is oily, unclean or wet this can impact the recognition. If this is the case we recommend cleaning the sensor and your finger with a dry cloth.
If your fingerprint recognition works inconsistently, you can also try the following:
Adjust Finger Placement
During the fingerprint setup, experiment with different positions and angles of your finger to help the sensor capture more details.
Register the Same Finger Multiple Times
Register the same finger at least three times, each time slightly shifting the area of your finger being scanned. This provides broader coverage and increases recognition reliability. Watch this YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/shorts/T2lWBBQoNis
Add Additional or Alternate Fingers
If one finger isn’t consistently recognised, register another finger to see if it performs better. You can also set up multiple fingers for added convenience.
Other reasons why your fingerprint recognition may not work reliably.
Low battery
Low battery could impact fingerprint recognition. Replace the batteries with brand new high quality batteries.
Faulty/rusty battery terminal or Loose cable
Power up the lock with a fully charged power bank or a computer using the USB charging port (micro USB or USB C) on the front panel and check if the fingerprint recognition works. If it does, it could mean there's something stopping the battery power from coming through to the front panel. Refer to this article.
Check if the battery terminal is broken or there's rust present. Also check if the cable connecting the two lock panels is securely plugged in. Depending on the lock model, the connector plug might be located in the battery compartment, allowing you to tighten it without uninstalling the lock. In other cases, the plug may be tucked away in a cavity, necessitating lock removal for proper fastening.
Firmware not up to date
Firmware updates for smart locks are crucial software improvements that fix bugs, boost security, enhance performance (like battery life, motor control, connectivity, fingerprint recognition), and add new features, ensuring the lock stays modern and reliable without needing hardware replacement, usually installed through the lock's app over Bluetooth while the phone is nearby.
Lock is stuck
If the lock becomes stuck during operation, it may not function correctly.
- Follow the instructions in the article to reset the lock and restore normal operation.
- If that doesn't fix the issue, uninstall the TTLock app and reinstall it.

If the steps above do not solve the problem, please send us the following.
