The Fingerprint Recognition Only Seems to Work Occasionally

The fingerprint reader on SDL smart locks is usually very reliable. Sometimes if there is dust or residue on the sensor or if your finger is oily, unclean or wet this can impact the recognition. If this is the case we recommend cleaning the sensor and your finger with a dry cloth.

If your fingerprint recognition works inconsistently, you can also try the following:
  1. Adjust Finger Placement
During the fingerprint setup, experiment with different positions and angles of your finger to help the sensor capture more details.

  2. Register the Same Finger Multiple Times
Register the same finger at least three times, each time slightly shifting the area of your finger being scanned. This provides broader coverage and increases recognition reliability.  Watch this YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/shorts/T2lWBBQoNis

  3. Add Additional or Alternate Fingers
If one finger isn’t consistently recognised, register another finger to see if it performs better. You can also set up multiple fingers for added convenience.
