Using a Shared TTLock Account in a Business Setting

The TTLock smart lock application offers businesses a convenient and centralized way to manage access control. One common use case in a business environment is the use of a shared TTLock account tied to a company email address. This setup allows for streamlined management of smart locks across multiple users and devices, especially in environments with changing personnel.

Business Use Case Overview

Scenario: A TTLock account is created using a centralized company email address

Employee 1 installs the TTLock app on their phone, logs in using the company TTLock account, and sets up and manages the smart locks.

If Employee 1 leaves the company, Employee 2 can simply install the TTLock app on their own phone, log in using the same company TTLock account credentials, and gain full access to all previously configured smart locks.

This approach eliminates the need to reconfigure the locks or transfer ownership when staff changes occur.

Security Considerations

While using a shared account is convenient, it’s important to implement basic security measures to protect your system:

Email Verification on New Devices: When a new device attempts to log in to the TTLock account, TTLock will send a verification code to the registered email address. This adds a layer of security and ensures that only authorized users can access the account.

Change the Password When Employees Leave: Once a new user (e.g., Employee 2) logs in on a different device using the shared TTLock account, previous users (e.g., Employee 1) will be automatically logged out. It is important to update the TTLock account password whenever an employee leaves the company. This ensures continued control over the system and prevents the former employees from re-accessing the account using previously saved credentials.

To update the account password in TTLock:
  1. Open the TTLock app
  2. Go to the hamburger menu in the top left hand corner
  3. Tap on the account details in the blue panel at the top left of the screen to go to 'Account info'
  4. Tap on 'Reset Password'
  5. Enter the current password, the new password and confirm the new password and then tap 'Save'
