Why can't I create more than 5 codes on my smart lock?

The TTLock app, the software provider behind most smart locks and keyboxes, allows users to create up to 5 unlocking codes per lock per month.  This includes any combination of code types (whether 'permanent', 'custom', 'timed', and 'recurring' codes). Once you’ve reached this monthly limit, you’ll need to wait until the new month begins before you can generate more codes. 

For users with larger households or multiple staff, there are still some good options to help you get the most out of your lock:

  1. 1. One-Time Codes: You can generate unlimited one-time codes that work for a single use. If you have short-term guests or tradespeople, this may be a practical workaround.

  2. 2. Alternative Methods: Beyond codes, our locks also support unlocking via:

    • -Key Fobs (RFID cards)
    • -Fingerprints
    • -The TTLock app (Bluetooth or WiFi)

    These methods are not impacted by the 5-code restriction and can be a great way to manage access for more users.

  3. 3. Subscription Upgrade: TTLock also offers a paid subscription service that allows you to create more than 5 codes. If you regularly need extra codes, this may be worth considering.

  4. 4. Use a Different App: Some locks are compatible with the DG Lock app, which might not have the same restrictions. If this suits your needs, let us know and we can advise you on set-up.
