What is the difference between a mortise and a latch?

A mortise includes a latch and a deadbolt, providing added security. On the other hand, a latch comes only with the latch mechanism. It's worth noting that our latch-only lock options feature a dead-latch, making them more secure than a regular latch.

For example, the SDL-H1 is a latch-only lock available in either a 60mm or 70mm. The SDL-H2, meanwhile, is a versatile option available in either a 60mm or 70mm latch, or a 50mm or 60mm mortise, allowing you to choose what best suits your needs.
