How to reset a lock without losing its data

This article important if you must reset your lock for some reason but don't want to lose the passcodes and fobs setup that's already been setup.

Note: The security reasons fingerprint are stored in the lock itself. Therefore fingerprints and lock settings CANNOT be backed up. 


Step 1 - Take a back up of the lock

  1. Temporarily Transfer the ownership of the lock to us, so we are able to take a back-up of your lock.

    • Follow the instructions on above article to transfer the ownership.

    • Transferring the lock to us will make the lock disappear from your TTLock App.

    • But you will still be able to lock/unlock as usual.

  2. We then take a back up of your lock. We do this by copying the data from your lock to an in-house demo lock.

Step 2 - Reset your lock

  1. Once we let you know follow the instructions in this article to reset your lock.

Step 3 - Reconfigure your lock

  1. Follow the programming guide in the user manual to add your lock to the TTLock app

Step 4 - Restore the old data back into your lock

  1. We till transfer in-house lock with your data back-up to your TTLock account. 

  2. Follow the instruction in this article to import your back up data from the in-house lock to your lock. 

  3. Confirm if all data has been transferred. 

  4. Let us know once this process in complete and we will reset the in-house lock. Once we reset the in-house lock your data back will be erased and the lock will disappear from your TTLock account.

This article is useful if you need to reset your lock but do not want to lose the passcodes and RFID fobs already programmed into the lock.

NotesNote: For security reasons, fingerprints are stored directly in the lock and cannot be backed up. Fingerprints and certain lock settings will need to be reconfigured after the reset.

Step 1 - Back Up Your Lock Data

Temporarily transfer ownership of the lock to us so we can create a backup of your lock data.

Follow the instructions in the linked article to transfer ownership.

Once ownership has been transferred:

  • The lock will disappear from your TTLock app.
  • You will still be able to lock and unlock the door as usual.

We will then create a backup by copying the data from your lock to an in-house demonstration lock.

Step 2 - Reset Your Lock

Once we confirm that the backup has been completed, follow the instructions in the linked article to reset your lock.

Step 3 - Reconfigure Your Lock

Follow the programming guide in the user manual to add your lock back into the TTLock app.

Step 4 - Restore Your Lock Data

We will transfer the in-house lock containing your backup data to your TTLock account.

Follow the instructions in the linked article to import the backup data from the in-house lock to your lock.

Once the import is complete, confirm that all passcodes and RFID fobs have been successfully restored.

After you have verified that the data has been restored, let us know. We will then reset the in-house demonstration lock. Once it has been reset:

  • The backup data will be permanently erased.
  • The demonstration lock will disappear from your TTLock account.
